5A. Providing a Consistent Message

It is critical that staff from treatment and juvenile justice systems provide a consistent message to youth with co-occurring disorders. To accomplish this, staff from all three systems must communicate with each other and discuss the following issues:

  • Problem identification
  • Expectations and probability of success
  • System boundaries
  • Means for information sharing
  • Means for problem-solving
